Miss Frances Ann Johnson – Community Governor & Vice – Chair of Governors
Frances Ann is a retired teacher, having left Westminster College, Oxford in 1978. She has taught in Local Authority & Independent schools in both County Durham & in the London Borough of Bromley. She taught in both the Primary & Secondary sector. During her teaching career, Frances Ann spent several years as a Housemistress, caring for children from various backgrounds, acting as a surrogate parent to children from the age of 8 to 18, this has given her an insight into how some children may behave differently at school to the way they behave at home.
In 1985, Frances Ann took a break from teaching and retrained as a Chef. This led to a year in a different field of employment. However, she returned to teaching when the opportunity to teach catering to 11-16-year olds seemed the ideal way to combine both careers.
Frances Ann first moved to the village in 1977, & although she has lived elsewhere, her heart does lie in Howden-le-Wear. She is an active member of the village community, attending the village Methodist Chapel & holding the office of Secretary of the Village Hall Society.
Since becoming a Governor, Frances Ann has attended numerous Governor Training Courses to keep up to date with National Governance requirements & commitments & sits on Durham County Association of Governors. She completed Safer Recruitment training in 2016.
She has no business or pecuniary interests that impact on her role as a governor.
